Max Payne 3 Collectors Edition announced

From the Rockstar games blog:

"Today we're proud to unveil the first details of the Max Payne 3 Special Edition for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows PC - available for pre-order starting today and only until January 15th, 2012 while supplies last. Retailing for $99.99/£99.99/€109.99 and featuring digital multiplayer character and weapon packs not found anywhere else, this definitive premium edition of Max Payne 3 will include:

• A copy of Max Payne 3.
• 10” tall Collectible Max Payne Statue created in a collaboration between TriForce and Rockstar Games.
• Series of game-inspired Original Still Life Art Prints that depict some of Max Payne’s inner demons and vices.
• Copper and brass-plated iron, bullet-shaped Bullet Keychain featuring a screw-off back.
• Classic Multiplayer Character Pack of eight playable multiplayer characters for Max Payne 3 Multiplayer, including fan favorites from the original Max Payne and Max Payne 2 like Max Payne from Max Payne 2, Mona Sax and Vladimir Lem.
• Disorderly Conduct Multiplayer Weapons Pack for Max Payne 3 Multiplayer that includes the Hammerhead Auto Shotgun, G9 Grenade Launcher and Molotov cocktail.
• Max Payne 3 Official Soundtrack featuring the game’s instrumental score."

Personally I think £100 is a bit much for me. I would like a “limited edition” with only the art prints. I'm not really one for the statuettes included in games but that's just a matter of personal preference. I can see that what’s included will be high in quality. However I do suspect that other character and weapon packs may appear as “exclusive pre-order DLC” from various retailers and will appear as DLC on XBL/PSN and Steam some time after release.

Leave a comment to let me know what you think. I loved Max Payne 1 and 2 and can't wait to see what Rockstar do with the IP.

Max Payne 3 is scheduled to come out around March 2012 and is available for pre-order now.

Dragonborn.

I sat down at my computer after having my tea, a rather nice pizza as a matter of fact. I decided to do a quest or two in Skyrim (the new Elder Scrolls game like you didn't know). At least I set off with the intention of doing a quest or two. Yeah, those plans went right out the window.

So what happened is just an amazing example of why I am totally loving Skyrim.

I load my game and my character is just outside the small settlement of Rorikstead (in the west of skyrim) and I set off on my way towards the start of my next quest. Then I hear a tremendous roar and before I can turn to see what it was that's about to rock my world, a menacing dragon rushes over me and lands over a hill in the distance. Me being a fool decide to go and see if it wants to be friends. It didn't.

Now I didn't expect to be fighting a dragon about two minutes after loading up the game so I was a little in shock. Anyway after my initial attempts to make contact and see if it would like to be friends and drink some mead didn't go over so well I decided an axe to the face is what it needed. A ferocious battle took place draining my already limited inventory of potions (I was meaning to get more) anyway after a handful of hairy moments I finally bring it down with help from Roriksteads guards and Lydia (a companion you can get fairly early on in the game).

This guy carried me for most of the fight

I then go and start walking to the quest location (forgetting I need to re-stock my potions and such) and I get to a place and just start looking around and just thinking of the hard work that the Bethesda dev team put in to making this game look as good as it does. When I hear a familiar roaring sound, I turn around to see what I think is a bear just leaping at me. Then I see it just hit the floor. Then I look up.
Bear attack?

Oh good. . . wait.

OH! F.....

This second dragon encounter barely even 10 minutes from the first one. It was tough. I only had the basic healing spell you get as default and my charm to defeat this guy. The following 15 minutes were a real challenge and amazingly fun. I had to pull every trick out of the bag, unfortunately I couldn't use Lydia as a damage sponge as I fell from a cliff and she took a while to catch up with me. I resorted to the “hide behind a rock” tactic, healing every chance I could and just by pure luck I was able to kill the second dragon.

But things like this happen all the time in Skyrim, not just dragons ganging up on me but interesting side quests, hilarious and intriguing characters to talk to and tons upon tons of that all important loot .

So lets sum it up, I loaded up Skyrim, defeated not one but two dragons within like five minutes of each other. Then to top it all off, I went and caught a butterfly.

Blog Launch.

So here we are, welcome to ThisParallel.
But first an introduction is in order. I'm James (but you can call me Joey or JamesParallel if you wish) I'm currently 19 and English. But the age will change over time, I hope so anyway. But more about me later, lets talk about the blog.

On this blog there will be various posts about Gaming, Film and Television, Art and Design, News and “Rants”. Not that helpful? Well lets get into it shall we :

Gaming :

Posts about gaming will range from me just talking about a game I like to reviews and gaming news I think is interesting.

Film & TV :

Posts about Films and TV shows I like. Maybe the occasional review but they would be few and far between.

Art & Design :

You guessed it, posts about Art and Design I like, but wait. There will also be some of my work popping up from time to time.

News :

News posts are going to be about news events, usually within the gaming world. Not any world events or anything because there are better places to get that news.

“Rants” :

This is just where I go off on a little rant about something or just want to talk about something for a while. So its not going to be about when I get annoyed at someone in the street (well maybe sometimes).

Well I hope you stick around. Content will improve.
